Today I will be starting a new blog series about my everyday life. Yesterday I was inspired by Shalonda, the über talented photographer/owner of Chubby Cheek Photography in Houstin, Texas. She reminded me to “love the life you live” everyday. Not just on vacations, not just on holidays … but every. single. day. This really resonated with me. I have spent the last 14 years photographing my client’s families. But when it comes time to do something fun on the weekend with my own family, I never want to bring my camera. “It’s too big, it’s heavy, it reminds me of all the to-do’s I have at work, etc etc”. I have used every excuse in the book. Don’t get me wrong, I take about 2 billion photos on my iPhone of my son every week, but I never pull out my real camera. And that’s just not fair. Not to him, not to our family, not to me as a professional children’s photographer.
I want to look back in 20 years and show my son how much fun we had as a family, every single day. Now, I’m not saying we don’t have our share of meltdowns (his and mine) but stopping to remember a little bit of fun we have each day is a new challenge I’m giving myself in 2014. From now on, you’ll be seeing more personal blogs from me about my everyday life. I hope you enjoy …. and remember to “love the life you live”.
