Please list 3 tips every new mom should know:
1. The best gift we can give to our children is to take care of ourselves- maintain balance in your life/relationships/work. Make sleep a priority. Eat well and exercise. Do things that nurture your heart and soul.
2. Stay calm in the storm- the storms will come. Mastering this skill is often a journey in progress. Whether it is in the birth, the middle of the night with a newborn, in a grocery store with a toddler or in the teen years… find coping skills, utilize resources to help you in the middle of your storm. Our children sense our emotions.
3. It is easier to prevent a mess than clean up a mess- being pro-active is key. Build your village before your baby arrives. Fill your freezer with food, take great childbirth, nursing, postpartum classes. Hire a doula. Have your postpartum plan in place. Find a great therapist. Know who to call.
Best advice you’ve ever been given:
Cherish every moment… even the hard ones.
