This is Jackson.
He is 9 years old.
He also happens to be the strongest and bravest young man I know.
Jackson was recently diagnosed with stage 4 liver cancer.
As we speak, we is undergoing his second round of chemotherapy. And he’s handling it like a champ.
No child should ever have to experience what this little boy is going through. He shouldn’t have to worry about when his next blood draw is, how long his next hospital stay will be, or when the chemo treatment will cause his hair to fall out. Plain and simple, childhood cancer shouldn’t exist.
And yet it does.
And through it all Jackson remains just as strong as ever, focused, and positive.
I met Jackson’s family 6 years ago when I photographed his aunt and uncle’s wedding in Tulum, Mexico. There were only 40 guests and my sister (who helped me photograph their wedding) and I were 2 of them.
Jackson’s family welcomed us with open arms the moment we arrived. By night two, we were sharing drinks and working on our dance moves, preparing for their big night.
The memories we made on that trip go beyond any work-related experience I’ve had in my life. These are the type of clients I want in my life. The kind that instantly become good friends.
These are my people.
That’s why I’m asking YOU guys, who are also my people, to please, please, please keep Jackson in your thoughts. Send him prayers. Send him strength. But most of all, please send he and his loving family all the love you can possibly share. They need it right now.
If you’re able to help in other ways, here’s a link to help cover Jackson’s mounting medical bills: https://www.gofundme.com/jackson
My love and prayers are with this strong, brave young man and his loving family as he faces this challenging time. We love you Jackson!
