One question I get asked a lot is, “Can I actually sell my online course or coaching program if I don’t have a large following?” YES! You absolutely can!

Now, if you’re wondering how you can find these people who want what you have, the answer is simple – It’s ads. And when I say ads, I mean primarily Instagram ads. I know that ads works because I have made hundreds of thousands of dollars on ads and you can too!

In this episode, I’m sharing the different ways you can use ads to grow your following and get people interested in your offers, even with a small audience.

Lead Magnets (Freebies)

The first way to grow your audience is by creating a lead magnet, or a freebie. This could be in the form of a PDF guide, a behind-the-scenes video, a preset, an email template, or anything else you can think of.

Once you create that lead magnet, you would then target a specific set of people, which is known as an ad set. By doing that, you’re letting Meta know who you want to see the ad. You can set a ton of different parameters, like:

  • Age
  • Gender
  • Location
  • Behavior
  • Demographics
  • Interests

So, while you may only have 900 followers on Instagram and nobody on your email list, you can create an audience of like-minded people who are looking for exactly what you teach.

How to Figure Out Which Audience to Target

Next, you are going to A/B test several different audiences against each other over the course of 3-5 days using the exact same copy and exact same graphics and see what happens. What you’re looking for is which audience is the most engaged with what you have to offer in that freebie.

Now, if you’re noticing your ads are performing poorly, it may not actually be your freebie, but rather your graphic is not strong enough to stop someone in their scroll. You need to create ads that identify who it’s for and what they need.

The other problem could be your messaging. You can try several different copy sets to see what your audience resonates with the most.

Low-Ticket Offers

One last thing you can do is create a low-ticket offer rather than a freebie, and now you’re growing your email list and audience with paid subscribers. Typically, if you have a good ad and a good offer, whether it be paid or a freebie, people will likely follow you back.

So, remember – you CAN start teaching others what you know WITHOUT having 10,000 followers and 8 million email subscribers. You can create a course and you can start selling it in your sleep tomorrow if you know how to use ads.
